San Diego Mindfulness Meditation Group was founded to promote the practice of Somatic Mindfulness Meditation, a unique kind of Mindfulness practice that springs from the tradition of Theravada Buddhism with an emphasis on Awareness, Insight, Loving-kindness, Generosity, Compassion, and Present Centeredness, and at the same time nurtures the ability to be comfortable with the full range of human emotional, physical, and mental experience.

The foundation for this practice is the mindfulness of the in and out breath, which then becomes the basis for the ability to ride the waves of one's joy, sadness, anger, ecstasy, disappointment, love, fear, fatigue, and more.

One of the many truths of the Buddha is that life comprises that which we have attraction for and that which we are averse to. Each creates its own cycle of suffering. When we meet life in the present we have a greater chance at knowing when we are experiencing attraction and when we are experiencing aversion. We then have the chance to act freely and not automatically. And that is a beginning to the end of suffering and the beginning of a truly happy life.

Welcome!
